Mohinder Bhagat distributes Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna identification slips to beneficiaries in Jalandhar

Punjab becomes first state to implement comprehensive, free health insurance scheme

Jalandhar News: In a major step towards strengthening public healthcare, Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Saturday distributed identification slips among beneficiaries for the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna in the city, marking the beginning of the state’s ambitious health insurance programme.

Interacting with the people on the occasion, the Minister said Punjab has become the first state in the country to implement such a unique and dynamic health insurance scheme aimed at providing quality and free medical care to every citizen up to Rs. 10 lakh. He described the initiative as a “big gift” from the Punjab Government to ensure that no family is deprived of treatment due to financial constraints.

Mr. Bhagat informed that under the Mukhya Mantri Sehat Yojna, launched by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, every eligible resident will be entitled to cashless treatment worth up to Rs.10 lakh. The entire cost of treatment will be borne by the Punjab Government.

Calling the scheme a boon for the common man, the Minister said it would significantly reduce the burden of medical expenses and enable people to access timely healthcare services without worry. He added that beneficiaries can get themselves enrolled under the scheme at all 179 Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the district, ensuring easy and widespread access.

He further stated that any resident possessing a Punjab Aadhaar Card or Voter Card can avail the benefits of the scheme.

Urging the public to take maximum advantage, Mr. Bhagat appealed to people to participate actively in the health card registration camps being organised by the Health Department at various locations.

The distribution of identification slips witnessed enthusiastic participation, with residents expressing hope that the scheme would transform healthcare services across the state.
