350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
Patiala News: The magnificent Nagar Kirtan, which commenced from the holy land of Talwandi Sabo dedicated to the 350th Martyrdom Day of Hind Di Chadar Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, was accorded a reverent and joyous welcome by the sangat upon its arrival in Patiala. The entire atmosphere resounded with the sacred Jaikaras of “Bole So Nihal… Sat Sri Akal”, as an armed contingent of Punjab Police presented a ceremonial guard of honour at Leela Bhawan. Nagar Kirtan also arrived at the sacred premises of Gurdwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib, where the esteemed Panj Pyare were respectfully honoured with siropas by sangat.
Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, MLA Ajitpal Singh Kohli, Chetan Singh Jouramajra, Mayor Kundan Gogia and other dignitaries bowed their heads in deep reverence before Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, gracefully seated in a beautifully adorned palanquin of flowers. Offering siropas to the Panj Pyaare, they shared that commemorating the 350th martyrdom anniversary of the Ninth Guru is a moment of profound spiritual significance for Punjab and the entire Sikh community.
Dr. Balbir Singh said that Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji, along with his devoted Sikhs—Bhai Mati Das Ji, Bhai Sati Das Ji and Bhai Dayala Ji—made the supreme sacrifice to protect dharma, human rights, and the freedom of conscience. Their martyrdom, he said, stands as an eternal message of courage, compassion and selfless service to humanity.
The Health Minister informed that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of the Chief Minister, is observing this historic occasion with utmost devotion and in full accordance with Gurmat Maryada. He further shared that the Chief Minister has sanctioned special grants of ₹50 lakh each for the holistic development of 36 revered sites in Patiala blessed by the divine presence of Guru Sahib.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Preeti Yadav, SSP Varun Sharma, MC Commissioner Paramjit Singh, senior officials and a large number of devotees also joined in offering heartfelt obeisance.
Earlier, the Nagar Kirtan received a warm welcome at village Gajumajra in Halka Samana by MLA Chetan Singh Jauramajra and local sangat. At Gurdwara Sahib Bahadurgarh, PRTC Chairman Ranjodh Singh Hadana and sangat from Halka Sanour offered their respects. MLA Gurlal Ghanaur welcomed the holy procession along Rajpura Road near Kheri Gandhaya, while MLA Neena Mittal received the Nagar Kirtan with devotion at Fuara Chowk, Rajpura. Sant Ranjit Singh Dhadrian Wale also extended a warm and heartfelt welcome to the Nagar Kirtan at Gurdwara Parmeshwar Dwar, Shekhupur, as the Nagar Kirtan entered Patiala district.
Notably, with the support and participation of the entire sangat, the Punjab Government organized this sacred Nagar Kirtan from Gurdwara Sri Ber Sahib (Degsar), Patshahi Dasvi, Buddha Dal Cantonment to Sri Anandpur Sahib, beginning yesterday from Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. The resounding beats of Nagara, Shahadat-e-Lo, Gatka performances and LED displays depicting the glorious history of the Sikh Panth added to the spiritual grandeur of the yatra.
Thousands of devotees are accompanying the Nagar Kirtan, the convoy includes an ambulance, digital museum, continuous langar seva and all essential arrangements for the comfort and safety of the sangat.
After an overnight stay at Gurdwara Sri Mastuana Sahib, Sangrur, on November 20, the Nagar Kirtan is proceeding today through Patiala’s Fountain Chowk, Leela Bhawan, Bhupindra Road, Thapar University Chowk, Jail Road–District Administrative Complex, Gurdwara Sri Dukh Niwaran Sahib, Khanda Chowk, New Bus Stand, Punjabi University, and further via Rajpura, Banur, and Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district. The sacred yatra will culminate at Sri Anandpur Sahib on November 22.
