Jalandhar News: Allottees in Surya Enclave, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue and Guru Gobind Singh Avenue have received major relief after sustained efforts by Nitin Kohli, the newly appointed in-charge of Jalandhar Central constituency.

The Jalandhar Improvement Trust, after detailed discussions with its chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiara, has decided that enhancement charges and interest for its 170-acre and 70.5-acre development schemes will now be applicable from 2021. In the case of the 94.5-acre scheme, interest will be charged at 7.5% from 2021.

Officials said the Trust will collect non-construction fees based on the government’s reserve price determined between 2021 and 2025. Exemptions granted by the government from time to time will continue, providing further relief to the allottees.

Kohli has regularly raised the issues of these allottees with the government and the Improvement Trust to seek resolution of their pending concerns. A day earlier, Kohli met Thiara to press for the waiver of enhancement and non-construction fees in these schemes. Presidents and members of the respective societies were also present during the meeting.

Trust officials presented different perspectives during the discussion, following which the Trust decided to collect enhancement charges and interest from 2021 onwards.

Officials said under the newly announced OTS scheme, allottees can settle their pending dues with significant waivers and can apply at the Jalandhar Improvement Trust office until July 31, 2025, to avail the benefits.
