Amritsar: One person was killed in an explosion near Nashera village on the Amritsar-Majitha bypass road on Tuesday morning, police said.
The blast occurred in an open area near the roadside, where an injured man was found with his organs severed due to the impact. He was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Senior police officials reached the site soon after receiving information about the incident. Border Range DIG Satinder Singh and District Rural Police SSP Maninder Singh said the explosion appeared to be linked to the Babbar Khalsa International terror outfit. They added that the deceased was suspected to be a member of the group.
Police suspect the involvement of Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI in the incident and said further investigation is underway.
