Jalandhar News: As per the directions of National Legal Services Authority, Punjab State Legal Services Authority and under the able guidance of Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar, National Lok Adalat was held today on 13.12.2025 in the Judicial Court Complex, Jalandhar, Phillaur and Nakodar. All type of Civil cases, Matrimonial cases, MACT cases, Compoundable cases, Traffic challans and Pre-litigative cases of banks, Financial Institutions, BSNL, PSPCL and Revenue cases etc. were taken up in the said Lok Adalat.
In this regard, Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar informed that 25 Benches were constituted in Jalandhar, Phillaur and Nakodar. He further told that Total 47702 number of cases were taken up in the Lok Adalat and 46813 number of were disposed off by way of compromise. The awards of Rs. 358219255/- (35 Crore 82 Lac 19 Thousand 255/-) were settled in the Lok Adalat. Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar and Sh. Rahul Kumar, Ld. CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA Jalandhar inspected benches constituted at Jalandhar.
Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar further informed that by way of Lok Adalat people are able to get speedy justice. Decision of Lok Adalat is final and no appeal can be filed against the decision of Lok Adalat. Decision is given on the basis of compromise between both parties. Lok Adalats increase brotherhood. Moreover, the Court fees paid by the applicant is also refunded.
In this regard Sh. Rahul Kumar, Ld. CJM-cum-Secretary DLSA Jalandhar informed that from time to time, the Lok Adalats are being organized so that the matters can be disposed off by way of compromise. For putting up the cases in Lok Adalat and for further information regarding any legal matter, any person can contact on Toll free No. 15100. He further informed that next Lok adalat will be held on 10.03.2026. The bar members of DBA, Jalandhar also participated in the Lok adalat.
Sh. Nirbhow Singh Gill, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson DLSA Jalandhar further informed that as per directions National Legal Services Authority & Punjab State Legal Services Authority, the DLSA has started a month campaign about Drug De addiction in the district. During the month awareness programs are being orgainsed in school/colleges/village & community centres.
