Punjab E News: Punjab-based social activist Ms. Jatinder Kaur has been appointed Honorary Ambassador to the Human Rights Commission of the United Nations, marking a notable international recognition and giving Punjab a stronger voice on global human rights platforms.
In her new role, Kaur is expected to advocate for the rights and interests of the Indian diaspora, with particular attention to concerns of the Punjabi community worldwide. She has been associated with public advocacy on issues including the welfare of overseas Indians, farmers’ rights, drug-abuse prevention and policy-related reforms, engaging with institutions in India and abroad.
For several years, Kaur has also worked on matters affecting Punjabis living overseas, a focus that has earned her recognition among community groups for sustained engagement and representation.
Reacting to her appointment, Kaur said the responsibility would further strengthen her commitment to raise issues concerning Indians, especially Punjabis and farmers, at international forums and ensure their concerns are heard at the global level.
Her appointment is being viewed as a significant development, reflecting the increasing global reach of grassroots leadership from Punjab and reinforcing India’s presence in international human rights discussions linked to the United Nations Human Rights Commission.
