Ludhiana: The flood situation in Punjab remains grim with Ludhiana district placed on high alert due to the rising water level in the Sutlej river. Officials said the death toll from the floods has climbed to 43, while crops spread over 1.7 lakh hectares have been destroyed.
The district administration has warned that several villages near Sasrali in Ludhiana East face a serious threat if the embankment along the Sutlej suffers a breach.
An advisory has been issued urging residents in vulnerable areas to move to safer locations and secure vital documents.
Authorities said rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected districts, but the scale of crop damage has sparked concern among farmers across the state.
