Punjab Government Leads in Disease Prevention After Floods, Health Services Reaching Every Village

Punjab E News (September 08):  After the serious disaster of floods, when health-related challenges were increasing in different parts of the state, the Punjab government has launched a historic initiative showing speed, sensitivity and foresight. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government has ensured that health services reach every citizen, cleanliness campaigns run in every village and town, and no family has to face shortage of treatment. This campaign is a clear example of the Punjab government’s commitment to the people and giving their safety the highest priority.

The Punjab government launched a
comprehensive campaign on Friday to tackle the health challenges spread across the state after the floods. Under this campaign, 12,977 Village Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs) have been activated at the ground level, which include more than one lakh members. In Patiala district, 226 cases of snake bites have come to light from January till now. Seeing these serious circumstances, the Punjab government has quickly taken steps to ensure that every citizen gets timely treatment and safety.

The campaign was started from Patiala where a large-scale cleanliness drive was conducted. The government made solid arrangements to prevent the spread of diseases by cleaning drains in streets and villages, disposal of garbage and spraying pesticides. The risk of diseases increases after floods, so the Punjab government immediately took steps giving cleanliness and sanitation the highest priority.

The Punjab government has also ensured that people are not just made aware but health services are delivered to their doorsteps. For this, ASHA workers are being sent door-to-door after giving them special training, and under the “Har Shukrvar Dengue Te Var” (Every Friday Against Dengue) campaign, breeding places of mosquitoes are being identified and prevented. Along with this, Gambusia fish are being released in villages and ponds so that the mosquito population can be naturally controlled.

To deal with dangers like snake and dog bites, the Punjab government has issued comprehensive advisory. Adequate availability of Anti-Snake Venom has been ensured in all government hospitals so that no patient has to face trouble for treatment. Besides this, immediate consultation and emergency help is being provided to citizens through the 104 helpline number.

The government has prepared a well-organized action plan for this campaign. This includes large-scale sanitation drive, door-to-door check-ups, sample collection and regular health check-ups. This initiative clearly shows that the Punjab government is not just making announcements but is taking planned and concrete action, through which health services are reaching every citizen.

The most important aspect is that Aam Aadmi Clinics are being reopened in flood-affected areas. Free check-up and treatment facilities will be provided in these clinics, so that poor and needy people can also easily get quality health services. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has once again proved that the health and safety of citizens is its highest priority. This comprehensive campaign is strong proof of the Punjab government’s activeness, sensitivity and spirit of service.
