Ropar: The Punjab government has suspended Naresh Kumar, Junior Engineer, and Sanitary Inspector Varinder Singh of the Morinda Municipal Council with immediate effect. Executive Officer (EO) Parvinder Singh Bhatti has also been transferred following allegations of negligence and failure to address public complaints.
The action was taken on the directions of Local Bodies Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, after a surprise inspection of various areas in Morinda on Tuesday morning. The minister was accompanied by local MLA Dr. Charanjit Singh during his visit to Ward Nos. 5, 6, 13, 14, 15, Rest House near Chunni Road, Old Bassi Road, and Shiv Nanda School Road.
During the inspection, garbage was found scattered across all wards, indicating a complete breakdown in the waste collection system. Expressing dissatisfaction over the civic body’s functioning, the minister ordered the immediate suspension of the two officials and directed the transfer of EO Bhatti.
Officials said the action aims to ensure better accountability and improve the cleanliness system in the area.
