Punjab Government Working Day and Night to Tackle Possible Flood Situation Related to Ghaggar: Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal

Cabinet Minister Meets Villagers at Makrour Sahib Bridge and Tohana Bridge near Moonak

Moonak News (September 07): Cabinet Minister Mr. Barinder Kumar Goyal today visited Makrour Sahib Bridge and Tohana Bridge near Moonak, where he met residents of several Ghaggar-side villages including Chadun, Kundni, Surjan Bhaini, Rampur Gujran, Phoold, Rajrahedi, and Dudiyan. He thanked them for their support in strengthening the embankments of the Ghaggar River during the current situation.

Mr. Goyal assured that all necessary resources would be provided to deal with any eventuality, adding that the Punjab Government is working tirelessly, day and night, to tackle the possible flood situation related to the Ghaggar and is leaving no stone unturned. He mentioned that even last night he personally inspected the embankments at various locations along the river.

The Minister informed that filling soil and sandbags, as well as preparing jumbo bags, is continuing on a war footing, and these are being used wherever required. Adequate nets are also available. In addition, JCB machines and all other essential equipment have been kept ready. Relief camps have been set up to deal with any emergency, while separate evacuation centres have also been designated for animals.

For villages that may potentially be affected, proper arrangements have been made for ration supplies and medical facilities. Similarly, fodder and medicines for animals have also been ensured. Necessary boats and divers are on standby. Officers of the district administration are present in the Moonak area 24×7, with all concerned departments discharging their responsibilities with full dedication.

Mr. Goyal said that such natural crises can only be overcome through mutual cooperation and support. Therefore, everyone must stand shoulder to shoulder during this testing time. He reiterated that the Punjab Government has made all necessary arrangements to meet any situation and is working on a war footing to provide all possible assistance to the people, ensuring that no inconvenience is caused.

On this occasion, officers from various departments and residents from several villages were present in large numbers.
