Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria on Wednesday visited Fortis Hospital to inquire about Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s health.
Speaking to reporters after the visit, Kataria said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had recently asked him to check on the Chief Minister’s condition and apprise him. “That is why I came here today,” he said, adding that Mann’s health was “much better than before.”
On the relief package announced for flood-hit Punjab, the Governor termed the ₹1600 crore sanctioned by PM Modi after an aerial survey as “token money.” He said the amount was an initial package and more funds would be released if required.
“It’s just token money. Another hundred per cent compensation will be sent by the Centre after the report of the survey by central teams,” Kataria said. He added that the Prime Minister had assured full compensation for losses suffered by farmers and residents due to the floods.
