Punjab E News (Pawan Dhupar): The “work-focused politics” of the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, is visibly evident at the local vegetable and fruit market in Jalalabad. Understanding people’s problems and immediately providing solutions is the essence of real “work politics,” a principle that has been exemplified by MLA Sardar Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy in Jalalabad.
For years, small traders and street vendors in Jalalabad struggled with traffic congestion and the challenges of working in extreme weather conditions. But now, the situation has changed. MLA Goldy has developed a shared, convenient, and safe space in the market, eliminating obstruction on main roads. Street vendors can now conduct their business comfortably under proper roofing (shed), making their livelihoods easier. The project cost around ₹3 crore, with the foundation laid in March 2024, and it has now been completed and inaugurated for public use.
This initiative was not just about relocating spaces. MLA Goldy also immediately addressed vendors’ essential requirements, such as bathrooms, RO drinking water, cleanliness, and security. The project ensures not only convenience but also the dignity and livelihood of the common people.
Now, the market enjoys smooth traffic flow, and street vendors can run their businesses efficiently without being affected by rain, extreme heat, or cold. Visitors and local residents expressed their happiness and appreciation, saying:
“We thank them for doing such a significant work for the poor. Everyone seems very pleased.”
This initiative demonstrates that the state government prioritizes the rights, well-being, and convenience of the people. MLA Jagdeep Goldy’s prompt action proves that elected representatives are now true servants of the people, not just political figures. Additionally, the project will strengthen the local economy, complementing other recent development works in Jalalabad, such as water supply and canal system improvements worth ₹28 crore.
The transformation of Jalalabad market is a living example of the Aam Aadmi Party’s people-centered policy that truly changes lives. This initiative clearly shows voters that the government thinks, works, and delivers results for the people every single day.
Punjab is changing because now, work speaks louder than words. This is not just rhetoric—it is a real-life initiative that transforms lives.
