Punjab will be the most conducive destination for industry in coming days, says Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora

SAS Nagar News: Punjab’s Industry and Commerce, Investment Promotion and Power Minister, Sanjeev Arora, stated that Punjab wpuld be most conducive destination for setting up the industry in the country. “State government is finalizing a new Private Industrial Park Policy aimed at fostering industrial growth and enhancing the ease of doing business in Punjab, currently in the drafting stage, which will be among the most competitive in India”, added Industry Minister during an media interaction at Mohali on Monday.

He said, “The Industrial Park Policy will provide a robust framework to support industrial expansion by offering state-of-the-art infrastructure and comprehensive facilities within designated industrial parks.” He highlighted that these parks will streamline business operations, attract investments, and create a conducive environment for industries to thrive especially for Red Categories to move at safeside away from crowded population.

Highlighting the success of newly launched Fasttrack Punjab portal (fasttrack.punjab.gov.in, on June 10, 2025), 684 applications have been processed within the stipulated time, while the remaining 747 out of 1431 are under review and expected to be cleared soon. “The Fasttrack Punjab portal reflects our commitment to transparency and efficiency, ensuring businesses face minimal delays,” Arora added.

Detailing the significant infrastructure upgrade of existing sites, the Minister said that Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation (PSIEC) has allocated Rs 100 crores for upgrading infrastructure across various focal points in the state. Tenders worth Rs 70 crore have already been issued, with the remaining Rs 30 crore in the tendering process.

Divulging specific plans for the Mohali, he said that Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has been considering to emerge as Brand Mohali in Semiconductor industry like the IT industry in other states. He said that th Infosys has given assurance to start AI based project in next three years focusing on generation 5000 highly paid jobs. Similarly, Mohali to have Exhibition cum Convention centre soon alongwith Ludhiana and Amritsar. These centres aim to boost trade, promote local industries, and provide platforms for showcasing products and innovations. The land for the Mohali exhibition centre has already been identified, while the government is actively scouting suitable locations in Ludhiana and Amritsar.

Terming the One-Time Settlement Scheme a major releif, Minister Arora said that nearly 40-year-old issues have been resolved, which has been warmly welcomed by the industry. An appellate authority has been established for canceled PSIEC plots to ensure timely resolution. Furthermore, the clubbing and de-clubbing of industrial plots has been implemented, enabling entrepreneurs to make better use of their land. Industrialists can now also convert leasehold plots or sheds into freehold. The government is also granting ownership of plots allotted on lease, so that entrepreneurs can conduct financial transactions with ease.

The Cabinet Minister also shared that last year, the Punjab Government provided incentives worth Rs 90 crore to industrialists, and now, within just 5 months, incentives worth Rs 222 crore have already been given. He also informed that a new portal has already been launched for setting up industries in Punjab, through which all approvals are granted within 45 days under a single-window system. In fact, approvals begin to be issued as early as the third or fourth day, so industrialists will not even have to wait the full 45 days.

Reiterating Punjab government’s dedication to creating a business-friendly ecosystem, Industry Minister said, “Our goal is to position Punjab as a leading industrial hub by providing unparalleled support to entrepreneurs and investors besides generating employment, attracting new industries, and strengthening Punjab’s economic landscape.

Before interacting with the industrialists from Mohali, Patiala and Ropar, Minister Sanjeev Arora held a detailed meeting with key departments’ officials to review industry, Labour, PSPCL, Municipal Corporation, GMADA and other schemes related to the industry and address implementation challenges. The discussions focused on enhancing coordination and resolving bottlenecks to ensure the effective execution of industrial and economic programs. GMADA apprised the Minister of allocation of 3.5 acres of land piece with a contribution of Rs 50 crore for setting up a new sub station to resolve the electricity issues.

Prominent amongst those present during the meeting and media interaction, included MLA Kuljit Singh gh Randhawa, Principal Secretary Industry and Commerce, K K Yadav, Director Surabhi Malik, Punjab Development Commission Member Vaibhav Maheshwari, Deputy Commissioner Komal Mittal, MC Mohali Commissioner Parminder Pal Singh, GMADA ACA Amarinder Singh Malhi and others key department officials.
