Sant Seechewal Provides Two Motor Boats for Flood-Affected Mand Area

Beas River Continues to Wreak Havoc in Rampura Gohra Village

Sultanpur Lodhi: The impact of flooding continues in Rampura Gohra village of the flood-affected Mand area, where the Beas River is still causing destruction. Due to the river’s strong current, one house is still suffering severe damage. Keeping this situation in view, Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal handed over two motor boats from his discretionary fund to the panchayats of Rampura Gohra and Baupur Jadid villages.

While handing over the motor boats, Sant Seechewal said that during the floods it had been announced that water tankers and motor boats would be provided to villages in the Mand area. Earlier, motor boats had also been given to the villages of Ahli Kalan and Sangra. He informed that due to changes in the flow of the Beas River, about 10 houses in Rampura Gohra village had suffered extensive damage, while one house is still under threat from the river. The receding water of the river is passing through the courtyard of that house, causing serious difficulties for the family.

On this occasion, Sarpanch Gurpreet Singh of Rampura Gohra village and the panches of Baupur Jadid thanked Sant Seechewal for providing the motor boats. Prominent residents of both villages said that during the floods, the maximum assistance was provided by Rajya Sabha Member Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, and even now he remains continuously engaged in levelling agricultural fields and serving the area.

During the handover of the motor boats, Sultanpur Lodhi Tehsildar Parminder Singh said that providing boats to these villages by Sant Seechewal is a significant support. He stated that the area connected to the Beas River had suffered heavy losses during the floods, and the administration, under the leadership of Sant Seechewal, has been engaged in serving the people from the very first day. He added that work is still ongoing. During this, officials from the BDPO office were also present. It is noteworthy that the engineer who came from Bombay for these boats took the Panchayats along and first conducted a trial run on the holy shore and provided training on it. After which these boats were handed over to the Panchayats.

*Appeal for Help with Children’s School Fees*

Sant Seechewal, who has been continuously serving farmers and labourers in the flood-affected area, appealed to the sangat to help with the education of children from needy families. He said that due to the floods, farmers have suffered severe financial losses—along with the destruction of crops, paying school fees for children has also become difficult. Sant Seechewal paid five months’ school fees for two children and said that there are still many children in the Mand area who require assistance for their fees. He also thanked overseas Punjabis who extended large-scale support during the floods, adding that the Mand area is still in urgent need of help.
