Moga: In a rather unusual incident, several unmarried youths from Himmatpura village in Punjab’s Moga district have submitted a memorandum to their sarpanch, requesting assistance in arranging their marriages. The letter, now widely circulated on social media, has sparked widespread discussion.
Himmatpura sarpanch Badal Singh Dhaliwal confirmed receiving the memorandum. He said the youths had approached him about two months ago, expressing their intention to submit their demands in writing. “I don’t know how this memorandum went viral after two months,” he said.
In the letter, the bachelors expressed frustration over not finding life partners and alleged they were being mocked as “chhada” (unmarried).
They urged the sarpanch to help arrange suitable matches at the earliest, claiming that their marriages would also increase the number of voters in the village. The youths warned that they would be forced to protest if their demand was ignored.
Youths expressed that bachelorhood today feels like a burden, compelling them to formally appeal to their village head for help in finding spouses.
