Amritsar: Congress leader and MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira, along with BJP Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu, have come out in support of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia after the Punjab Vigilance Bureau raided his residence in Green Avenue, Amritsar.
Khaira, in a video message posted on his official Facebook account, condemned the raid and described it as an act of political vendetta. “I condemn in the strongest terms the raids on Bikram Majithia’s residence and other places with the intention of political vendetta. Punjab has now turned into a police state,” he said, expressing concern over the growing misuse of power and the worsening political atmosphere in the state.
Majithia, who is under investigation in a drug-related case registered under the NDPS Act in 2021, alleged that a 30-member Vigilance Bureau team forcibly entered his home. His wife, Akali MLA Ganiv Kaur Majithia, also said she was not informed about the reason behind the action.
Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu of the BJP also came out in support of Majithia, echoing concerns about the nature of the raid and the need to uphold democratic principles.
