Patiala News: Renovation works initiated for the historic Mata Shri Kali Devi Temple in Patiala are progressing at a rapid pace. Members of the Temple Advisory Managing Committee C.A. Ajay Alipuria and Sanjay Singla stated that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is personally monitoring the progress of the ongoing works to ensure their timely completion. ADC Damanjit Singh Mann and SDM Harjot Kaur were also present with them.
Interacting with the media, the committee members Ajay Alipuria and Sanjay Singla informed that Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Aam Aadmi Party’s National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal had launched renovation projects worth approximately ₹75 crore for the historic Shri Kali Mata Temple. They said that all works are scheduled to be completed within the next one year, allowing devotees to experience darshan at a grand, rejuvenated, and well-facilitated temple complex.
He said that the Punjab government has appointed Mr. Mahesh Mittal (a well-known industrialist from Ludhiana) as a Chairman of the advisory management committee. Members extended New Year greetings to the city residents and said that the committee would also undertake work related to education.
C.A. Ajay Alipuria and Sanjay Singla further shared that the Punjab Government has approved several major components under the renovation projects, including the supply of clean canal water to the temple’s sacred Sarovar. The existing sewage and drainage systems are also being upgraded. He added that the Aam Aadmi Clinic established within the temple complex is already providing medical services to devotees as well as residents of nearby areas.
The Temple Advisory Committee members Ajay Alipuria and Sanjay Singla elaborated that, keeping in mind the convenience of devotees, a new pathway is being constructed around the Sarovar, and RCC foundation work is currently in progress. Along with the development of the entrance gateway and the Sarovar, six building blocks are under construction.
These include Block 1, comprising a security room, inquiry room, toilets, meter room, and HT panel room; Block 2, which will serve as the main entrance pavilion connecting to the proposed Langar Hall; and Block 3, which will house the main Langar Hall, featuring an amphitheatre on the rooftop and four lifts on either side.
It was further informed that Block 4 will include space for maintenance staff, a pump panel room, and an electrical panel room, while Block 5 will function as the Kund Entry Portal, serving as the main access point to the Sarovar area. Block 6 will be a double-storey structure housing a Prasad Hall, souvenir collection room, toilet block, café area, meeting hall, lost and found room, staff dormitory, and an administrative office along with four guest rooms.
C.A. Ajay Alipuria and Sanjay Singla said that all entry gates of the temple are being redesigned in accordance with traditional architectural principles, in consultation with urban planning and heritage experts. He added that the project aims to enhance the temple’s grandeur while preserving its sanctity and heritage architecture. A Light and Sound Show will also be arranged near the Sarovar on the lines of major pilgrimage centres, further enriching the spiritual and visual experience of devotees.
The Temple Advisory Committee members Ajay Alipuria and Sanjay Singla added that, to manage heavy footfall and ensure smooth distribution of Prasad, a token system on the lines of the Mata Vaishno Devi Temple will be introduced. They said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is fully committed to developing Mata Shri Kali Devi Temple as a premier spiritual and architectural landmark in the state.
