Amritsar: Three members of a family, including a child, were killed after a speeding Swift Dzire car lost control and rammed into a roadside tree on the Gharinda-Bhakna road in Amritsar on Tuesday.
The deceased, identified as Nihang Singh, his wife, and a child, died on the spot, while a fourth occupant of the car sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to a private hospital in Amritsar.
The accident took place near Lahori Malla village when the car, which was travelling from Bhakna to Gharinda, lost control at a curve and collided with a tree. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front part of the car was completely shattered.
Locals said the vehicle was moving at a high speed when it became uncontrollable at the turn. Police have started an investigation into the incident and are trying to trace the family of the deceased.
