Chandigarh: The recent deaths of youths due to alleged drug overdoses in Jalalabad sub-division have sparked protests by leaders of various political parties against the police, demanding action against drug smugglers and accountability for rising fatalities.
Following the protests by Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, and BJP leaders, the Fazilka district police have transferred three station house officers: Sachin Kumar (Jalalabad city), Amarjit Kaur (Jalalabad Sadar), and Angrez Kumar (Arniwala).

Former Congress minister Hans Raj Josan, Shiromani Akali Dal Jalalabad leader Raju Khera, and BJP Fazilka district president Sukhwinder Singh Kamboj alleged that five people had recently died in the area due to drug use, demanding immediate action to curb the growing menace.
