Core Groups to Be Formed in Every District for Protection of Human Rights- to comprise 15 Members Each
Kapurthala News: Member of the Punjab State Human Rights Commission, Padma Shri Jatinder Singh Shanty, today issued directions in Kapurthala district to ensure that measures related to human rights have to be implemented more effectively at the grassroots level.
He stated that violation of human rights will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and the Punjab State Human Rights Commission is continuously taking strict action while treating cases of human rights violations with utmost seriousness to protect human rights across the state.
During a meeting held at the District Administrative Complex, Kapurthala, he interacted with Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal, other administrative officers, members of the Bar Association, Medical Association, and representatives of organizations working in the field of human rights.
He said that the primary objective of the Commission is to ensure complete protection of the fundamental rights guaranteed to every citizen under the Constitution, so that no injustice occurs to anyone.
Reiterating his stand, he said that any violation of human rights will not be tolerated and strict legal action will be ensured against the concerned officials as per law.
He further informed that the Human Rights Commission is issuing advisories to safeguard human rights, under which new regulations are being introduced in the interest of humanity.
Padma Shri Shanty informed that recently, the Commission has issued an advisory stating that no hospital can withhold the body of a deceased patient in cases of non-payment of hospital bills, and it has been made mandatory to hand over the body to the family members.
He clarified that in cases where the deceased body is not handed over to the family, police cases will be registered. Regarding health services, he said that boards displaying the Commission’s advisory will be installed in hospitals.
In addition, an advisory has also been issued for the welfare of sanitation workers, under which contractors have been asked to to provide gloves, uniforms, masks, and insurance coverage to sanitation workers.
He also informed that the Commission is forming a core group of 15 members in every district to work for the protection of human rights and to bring related complaints and issues to the notice of the Commission. These members will be non-political, and applications can be submitted till February 4.
He stated that if any violation of human rights occurs anywhere, a written complaint should be submitted to the Commission, on which action will be taken within two days.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner Amit Kumar Panchal assured the Commission member that the district administration of Kapurthala is fully committed to protecting human rights and will make further intensified efforts in this direction.
