Jalandhar News: In yet another crackdown against drug menace, Municipal Corporation Jalandhar in coordination with Commissionerate Police Jalandhar, on Thursday demolished an illegal construction, belonging to an infamous drug smuggler in New Hardyal Nagar. The encroached structure, constructed was razed by the authorities as part of the on going drive to demolish illegal encroachments under “Yudh Nashian Virudh.” Police teams led by Joint CP Sandeep Sharma and ADCP-1 Jalandhar Akarshi Jain, and ACP North Aatish Bhatia ensured Police assistance to Municipal officials during the demolition drive.
Divulging the details, Commissioner of Police Jalandhar Ms. Dhanpreet Kaur stated that the Municipal Corporation had received information about an illegal construction on by notorious drug smuggler namely Vijay Kumar alias Laddu.
Acting promptly, the Municipal Corporation and Police teams swung into action and demolished the encroached structure, sending a strong message that drug-related activities will not be tolerated in Jalandhar city.
Pointing out further, She stated that the accused is a habitual offender, with a total of as many as 20 cases registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and other offences. This action marks a significant step in dismantling the financial network of drug peddlers and ensuring accountability.
Notably, similar actions have been taken in the past, including the demolition of illegal structures linked to drug traffickers in the Phillaur area, Dhankia Mohalla, Rama Mandi, Garha, Bhargav Nagar, Basti Gujan, and Lohian.
The Commissionerate Police reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating the drug menace from the society and urged citizens to support their efforts in making Jalandhar drug-free.
