Led by Chandigarh AAP president Vijay Pal Singh and party councillors, a large number of workers gathered in Sector 34 and raised slogans against the BJP. Protesters attempted to march towards the BJP office but were stopped by police, who erected barricades to prevent them from moving forward.

Addressing the gathering, Vijay Pal Singh strongly condemned the alleged comments and said the party would not tolerate any statement that insults Punjabis.

He demanded that Malhotra resign from his position immediately, arguing that the people of Chandigarh and Punjab would not accept derogatory remarks against the community.

Singh said Punjabis have made significant contributions to the country’s security, agriculture, industry and nation-building, and any attempt to undermine their role is unacceptable.

During the protest, AAP workers raised slogans against the BJP leader and burnt his effigy. Several party leaders and councillors, including Hardeep Singh, Kuldeep Singh, Yogesh Dhingra, Vikrant A. Tanwar and Sunny Aulakh, were also present at the demonstration.

Meanwhile, Jatinder Pal Malhotra had earlier rejected the allegations, denying that he had made any objectionable remarks against the Punjabi community.
