Amritpal’s associates, Varinder Singh Fauji and Bhagwant Singh, have given statements to the police in this regard, sources said. Amritpal is currently lodged in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act.

Meanwhile, Amritpal’s lawyer and legal advisor, Iman Singh Khara, alleged that these claims are an attempt to defame Amritpal ahead of the by-election in the Tarn Taran assembly seat, where Amritpal’s party, Akali Dal Waris Punjab Dey, is contesting.

Khara said that the statements reportedly given by Amritpal’s associates have no legal value, claiming they fall under Section 27 and do not require a challenge.

He also said that he will challenge the NSA imposed on Amritpal Singh for the third time in the Supreme Court.
