The High Court awarded three months’ jail in each of the seven cheque bounce cases, with all the sentences to run concurrently.

Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma directed the authorities to send Rajpal Yadav to jail, observing that the actor’s conduct had remained questionable throughout the proceedings. The court noted that he had been given several opportunities to honour his commitment and repay the company’s dues but failed to do so.

In a strong observation, the court remarked that “the law is not a film script that an actor can rewrite according to his convenience.”

The High Court also directed Rajpal Yadav to pay ₹1.05 crore to the complainant in each of the seven cases, taking the total compensation to ₹7.35 crore. The court clarified that nearly ₹2 crore already paid by the actor would be adjusted against the total liability.

The dispute dates back to 2010, when Rajpal Yadav had borrowed ₹5 crore to finance one of his films. After failing to repay the remaining amount, several cheques issued by him were dishonoured, leading to prolonged legal proceedings.

During the hearing, Rajpal Yadav had earlier stated that he was prepared to go to jail multiple times but would not pay any money. However, counsel for Murli Projects Private Limited, Avneesh Sikka, informed the court that all 21 petitions filed by the actor had been dismissed and the sessions court’s judgment had been fully upheld.

Rajpal Yadav’s wife, Radha Rajpal Yadav, was also an accused in the case. The High Court directed her to pay a fine of ₹5 lakh in each of the seven cases.
