In his letter, Sahney expressed deep concern over what he described as a coordinated campaign to spread misleading and provocative posts aimed at undermining the sanctity and dignity of Sikh religious institutions. He said such content “deeply hurts religious sentiments and disturbs communal harmony,” adding that there was no place for such material in society.

The Rajya Sabha member urged the Ministry to intervene immediately under the provisions of the Information Technology (IT) Act to ensure strict action against those responsible and the prompt removal of unlawful content from social media platforms.

Sahney also alleged that the simultaneous and coordinated appearance of such posts raised serious concerns that they were being encouraged at the behest of the ruling party in Punjab.

He requested the Ministry to direct the concerned authorities to investigate the matter and instruct major social media platforms, including X, Facebook and Instagram, to immediately remove the objectionable content. He further urged the platforms to initiate appropriate action under the law against repeat offenders responsible for publishing such material.
