SSP Patiala Varun Sharma said the father, identified as Girdhari Lal, has been arrested. The couple had reached the hospital on August 24, where the woman delivered a stillborn baby, classified as intrauterine death (IUD).

The hospital handed over the body to the family on August 25, but instead of performing last rites, the father disposed of it in a garbage dump.

A case has been registered under Section 94 of the BNS for secret disposal of a dead body. Police also recovered pictures of the deceased child from Girdhari Lal’s mobile phone.
