The demolition operation began at around 4 am amid heavy security arrangements. Authorities had made extensive preparations in advance, deploying a large police force to maintain law and order and closely monitor the area throughout the exercise.

A day earlier, the Haryana Home Department had ordered the temporary suspension of mobile internet, bulk SMS and dongle services within a designated area of the NIT zone to prevent any disruption to public order during the operation.

Officials said the Faridabad Municipal Corporation undertook the action in compliance with directions issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT). Police started erecting barricades in and around Masjid Chowk at around 2 am, while several key roads were sealed and traffic diverted through alternate routes.

Movement of people and vehicles around the site was completely restricted to ensure the smooth execution of the operation. Multiple earthmoving machines were used to demolish the mosque and other structures. Two temples were also removed during the drive.

According to officials, the demolition was necessary to facilitate key infrastructure projects planned for the area. An elevated road has been proposed near Masjid Chowk, while the Gurugram–Faridabad–Noida Namo Bharat RRTS corridor is also slated to pass through the location.

Authorities stated that several large encroachments and unauthorised structures were obstructing the proposed projects and had to be cleared.

They added that similar drives against illegal constructions and encroachments would continue to ensure the timely completion of ongoing development projects across the city.
