Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat said the accused, Pooja Kumari, attacked her husband, Rajesh Kumar Mahatha, with a hammer while he was asleep on the intervening night of July 15-16.

After committing the crime, Pooja locked the door and fled with her children, Lunayat said. A special police team led by Sub-Divisional Police Officer (Seraikela) Sameer Sawaiya was formed to trace the accused after the body was found on Sunday.

Based on human and technical evidence, the team arrested Pooja, who confessed to the crime during interrogation, police said.
