According to Bittu, the Prime Minister will dedicate a number of development initiatives to the state, including an important railway project. The exact date of the visit, however, has not yet been finalised.

Modi last visited Punjab in February this year on the occasion of the 649th birth anniversary of Guru Ravidas. During that visit, he formally announced the renaming of Adampur Airport as Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Airport, Adampur, inaugurated the terminal building at Halwara Airport in Ludhiana, and later visited Dera Sachkhand Ballan.

Officials said the upcoming visit will also focus on infrastructure and development projects aimed at boosting connectivity and economic growth in the state.

The visit is also being viewed as politically significant, as it will be the Prime Minister’s first visit to Punjab after Kewal Singh Dhillon was appointed as the BJP’s Punjab president.

Political observers believe the visit could form part of the BJP’s preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with the party expected to use the occasion to strengthen its organisational presence and outreach in the state alongside highlighting development initiatives.
