]]> New Delhi: Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on Friday wrote a condolence letter to Amneet P Kumar, wife of late Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar, who allegedly died by suicide following caste discrimination.

In her letter, Sonia Gandhi described the incident as “shocking and painful,” adding that the death of Y Puran Kumar highlighted how “even top officials are not immune to social injustice arising from discriminatory attitudes.”

She assured Amneet P Kumar that “crores of Indians stand with you in your fight for justice.”

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and party leader Rahul Gandhi also condemned the circumstances that reportedly drove the senior police officer to take the extreme step.
