Bittu had announced that he would visit the police station to assess the situation and gather details about the attack. However, as his convoy entered Moga in the afternoon, a heavy police contingent led by a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) intercepted the convoy and prevented it from proceeding to the police station.

Police officials briefed the Union Minister about the incident and informed him that raids were underway to arrest the accused. Following the police action, BJP leaders accompanying Bittu raised slogans in protest.

The incident comes a day after two unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants allegedly hurled a hand grenade at Moga Sadar Police Station in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to police sources, the explosive was of low intensity, preventing any major damage or casualties. However, the blast shattered the windows of two vehicles parked inside the police station premises.

Following the attack, teams from the Cyber Cell, Crime Branch and Forensic Science Laboratory carried out an extensive investigation that continued late into the night. Police officials said CCTV footage has helped identify the suspects, and multiple teams have launched raids while high alert and intensified checking have been ordered across the district to trace and arrest the attackers.
