Rohit, a resident of Kurad village, was headed to harvest paddy on his 50 bighas of farmland. “My father was murdered a month ago over this land. Now they’ve targeted me,” Rohit told his family.

The incident occurred even though a gunman from Sanauli police station had been assigned to protect him. However, the gunman was reportedly riding about 50 metres ahead at the time of the attack. By the time he returned, the attackers had escaped.

Rohit was initially rushed to the civil hospital but was later shifted to a private facility due to the seriousness of his injuries. Police have launched an investigation, and the possibility of a continuing land dispute is being probed.
