]]> New Delhi: Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, while introducing the Waqf Amendment Bill, 2025, in the Rajya Sabha, said the proposed legislation is not intended to target Muslims or hurt religious sentiments.

Rijiju said that the bill aims to improve the management of waqf properties, resolve existing complications, enhance transparency, and implement technology-based governance.

The Lok Sabha had passed the bill with a 288-232 vote at midnight on Thursday after nearly 12 hours of debate.
