Chandigarh: Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria has alleged that Pakistan is targeting India’s youth through drugs, aiming to create unrest in the country.<\/p>\n
Speaking at Panjab University on Friday Kataria said, “Pakistan cannot fight us directly, so it has chosen the route of drugs to weaken our youth and foster rebellion.”<\/p>\n
The Governor highlighted the evolving methods of drug smuggling, noting that Pakistan now uses small drones instead of larger ones.<\/p>\n
Anti-drone systems are being deployed, with their number increasing from 8 to 26 recently, but he admitted that drug addiction has not been entirely eradicated.<\/p>\n
Praising Punjab’s efforts in combating drugs, Kataria pointed out that the state’s narcotics conviction rate stands at 80-85%, compared to Rajasthan’s 23-28%. He also noted the significant quantity of drugs being seized in Punjab.<\/p>\n
The event also saw the presence of National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Kishore Rahatkar. Kataria emphasized that women play a crucial role in the fight against drugs, as they are often the most affected.<\/p>\n
