New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has told a Delhi court that Tahawwur Rana, a key accused in the 26\/11 Mumbai terror attacks, had also planned to target several other Indian cities. The revelation was made before Special Judge Chandra Jit Singh, who sent Rana to 18-day NIA custody.<\/p>\n
In his order, the judge directed the agency to conduct a medical examination of Rana every 24 hours. Rana has also been allowed to meet his lawyer every alternate day, but only at an audible distance and in the presence of NIA officials. Additionally, he has been permitted to use only a soft-tipped pen.<\/p>\n
NIA officials informed the court that they suspect Rana was involved in a broader conspiracy to replicate the 2008 Mumbai-style attacks in other cities.<\/p>\n
