Tarn Taran: A man was shot dead on Sunday in a firing incident linked to a land dispute in Patti town of Tarn Taran district, police said. The deceased has been identified as Barinderbir Singh, a resident of Kot Dhana village in Barnala district.<\/p>\n
According to police, Barinderbir Singh was related to Ishtpartap Singh, a resident of Patti whose grandfather had allegedly transferred ownership rights of a 16-acre plot to Navtej Singh and Jagbir Singh of Bishamberpur Jandiala years ago.<\/p>\n
However, following the grandfather\u2019s death, Ishtpartap Singh reportedly refused to formalise the transfer, leading to a legal dispute over the land.<\/p>\n
Barinderbir Singh had reportedly built a temporary room on the disputed land and was present there with some companions when two unidentified men arrived in a Fortuner SUV and opened fire.<\/p>\n
Barinderbir was struck by two bullets and died on the spot, while his companions managed to escape.<\/p>\n
The assailants fled the scene after the attack. Police from City Patti police station arrived shortly after and shifted the body to the mortuary at Civil Hospital Patti.<\/p>\n
