Srinagar: Around 50 public parks and gardens across the Kashmir Valley have been closed to tourists as a precautionary measure following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, officials said on Monday.<\/p>\n
Gates of 48 out of the 87 public parks and gardens in the region have been shut amid heightened threat perceptions.<\/p>\n
Officials said the security review is ongoing and more locations may be restricted in the coming days. Most of the closed tourist spots are located in remote areas and were among the few newly developed sites opened to the public in the past decade.<\/p>\n
These include Dooshpathri, Kokernag, Duksam, Sinthan Top, Achabal, Bangus Valley, Morgan Top, and Tosamaidan.<\/p>\n
Several Mughal gardens in south Kashmir have also been closed. While authorities have not issued a formal order, entry to these sites has been blocked.<\/p>\n
The move comes a week after militants opened fire in Pahalgam\u2019s Baisaran Valley, killing 26 people\u2014most of them tourists.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
