New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday chaired a high-level security meeting attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 lives.<\/p>\n
The meeting, held at the Prime Minister\u2019s residence, 7 Lok Kalyan Marg, also included Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.<\/p>\n
It came a day after Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met the Prime Minister, following a briefing from CDS Anil Chauhan regarding the security situation and potential retaliatory measures.<\/p>\n
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met soon after the attack, where cross-border links to the Pahalgam terror incident were highlighted. The government has vowed to punish both the terrorists involved and their handlers.<\/p>\n
As part of its response, the Centre has announced several steps, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, to send a strong message to Pakistan over its continued support for terrorism.<\/p>\n
