{"id":42355,"date":"2025-05-05T10:55:14","date_gmt":"2025-05-05T10:55:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/punjabenews.com\/?p=42355"},"modified":"2025-05-05T10:55:14","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T10:55:14","slug":"ed-arrests-former-haryana-congress-mla-dharam-singh-chhokar-in-rs-500-crore-fraud-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/punjabenews.com\/English\/political-news\/ed-arrests-former-haryana-congress-mla-dharam-singh-chhokar-in-rs-500-crore-fraud-case\/","title":{"rendered":"ED arrests former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhokar in Rs 500 crore fraud case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Chandigarh: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested former Haryana Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhokar in connection with a Rs 500 crore money laundering case.<\/p>\n<p>The 61-year-old was reportedly detained from a hotel in Delhi on Sunday and will be produced before a court in Gurugram.<\/p>\n<p>Chhokar, a former legislator from the Samalkha assembly seat in Panipat district, had contested the Haryana Assembly polls last year but lost.<\/p>\n<p>He, along with his sons Vikas Chhokar (absconding) and Sikander Chhokar, is accused of duping over 1,500 homebuyers and siphoning off funds through real estate ventures.<\/p>\n<p>The ED had earlier arrested Sikander, who is currently out on bail. Multiple non-bailable warrants have been issued by a special PMLA court against Dharam Singh Chhokar and Vikas Chhokar.
