New Delhi: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi cancelled his scheduled visit to Kashmir last month after receiving an intelligence alert, just days before the Pahalgam terror attack.<\/p>\n
Addressing a \u2018Save the Constitution Rally\u2019 in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Kharge termed the Pahalgam terror attack as a failure of the country\u2019s intelligence agencies. \u201cThe government has accepted it and they will resolve it,\u201d he said. \u201cIf they already knew, why didn\u2019t they take action?\u201d<\/p>\n
Kharge claimed that three days before the attack, intelligence agencies had warned the Prime Minister about a possible threat, leading to the cancellation of his visit.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have come to know that an intelligence report was sent to Prime Minister Modi three days before the attack. He cancelled his scheduled visit to Kashmir after receiving the warning. I have also read this in a newspaper,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The Congress president questioned why the information was not shared with security forces and the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen the intelligence agencies advised you not to go for your safety, why did you not share that information with the security forces and police for the safety of the common people?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
Kharge also criticised the Central government for failing to enhance security in the region. \u201cWhy did the Centre not deploy more security personnel in Pahalgam, knowing that there was a threat of a terror attack?\u201d he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
