New Delhi: Foreign Secretary Vikram Masri said on Friday that the Pakistan Army carried out a “cowardly act” last night by attempting to target Indian cities and military installations. “Indian troops responded to these attacks in a proportionate, substantially responsible manner,” he said.<\/p>\n
Colonel Sophia revealed that India launched four retaliatory drones in response. \u201cPakistan is using its civilian aircraft as a shield.<\/p>\n
During the attack, Pakistan kept the Karachi to Lahore flight operational and also landed a flight from Dammam to Lahore. India ensured that no civilian aircraft was harmed,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She further added that initial investigations indicated the drones used by Pakistan were of Turkish origin.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Bathinda military base was targeted with a UAV, which was neutralised. There were some casualties on the Indian side in Jammu and Kashmir, but the Pakistani Army also suffered major losses,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
According to Colonel Sophia, Pakistan launched drone attacks over the past 8\u20139 nights with the apparent aim of targeting Indian military bases.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch a large-scale drone operation shows they were trying to test the strength of India’s air defence system. Over 400 drones were used to strike 36 locations. Most of these drones, which were Turkish-made, were destroyed by India,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n
In response to the ongoing threat, the Amritsar administration has issued new public safety guidelines. Citizens have been advised that blackout drills will no longer be conducted. If sirens are heard, residents should treat it as a real alert and immediately switch off all lights.<\/p>\n
