New Delhi: A central spokesperson of the Indian Army clarified on Tuesday evening that no air defence guns or systems have been deployed at Sri Harmandir Sahib, rejecting recent media reports as incorrect.<\/p>\n
The clarification comes after strong objections were raised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which also denied the claims.<\/p>\n
The controversy arose following an interview by Indian Army\u2019s Lieutenant General Sumer Ivan, who had stated that air security guns were installed at Sri Harmandir Sahib amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.<\/p>\n
He made the remarks a day after the Army revealed that Pakistan had allegedly targeted Sri Harmandir Sahib and other areas in Punjab.<\/p>\n
However, the SGPC issued a firm rejection of the Army\u2019s claim, stating that no such military installation exists at the sacred Sikh shrine.
