New Delhi: Air India has suffered a major operational setback as 83 of its wide-body flights were cancelled between June 12 and 6 pm on June 17, 2025. Of these, 66 flights were operated using Boeing 787 aircraft, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The cancellations come in the wake of a recent fatal crash involving an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner in Ahmedabad. In response to the incident, the DGCA has launched an in-depth review of the safety and operational procedures of both Air India and its subsidiary, Air India Express.<\/p>\n
Officials said the aviation regulator is closely examining technical operations, safety protocols, and flight schedules to ensure there is no compromise on passenger safety. Air India\u2019s fleet includes a number of wide-body aircraft, primarily used on international routes. The Boeing 787, also known as the ‘Dreamliner’, is the most commonly used aircraft in this category for long-haul flights.<\/p>\n
