New Delhi: India’s aviation safety regulator, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), has issued a show-cause notice to Tata Group-owned Air India for allegedly violating flight duty time limitations (FDTL) for flight crew.<\/p>\n
According to sources, the violations were detected during a spot inspection of Air India\u2019s Bengaluru-London flights on May 16 and 17, 2025. The DGCA observed that both flights exceeded the prescribed FDTL limit of 10 hours for crew members.<\/p>\n
In its notice, the DGCA said, “During on-the-spot checking, it has been found that the Accountable Manager of Air India operated two flights from Bengaluru to London (AI133) on May 16 and 17, both of which crossed the stipulated flight time limit of 10 hours.” The regulator cited this as a breach of the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) norms.<\/p>\n
The notice also said that the accountable manager failed to ensure compliance with the required provisions. The DGCA has given Air India seven days to respond and explain why action should not be taken for the reported violations.<\/p>\n
