Rohtak: The Haryana government has revised its ration distribution policy, allowing Below Poverty Line (BPL) families to purchase only one litre of mustard oil at a cheaper rate from ration depots. For two litres of oil, families will now have to pay Rs 100.<\/p>\n
Earlier, BPL families were paying Rs 40 for two litres of mustard oil, but the price has now increased by 150% to Rs 100, effective from July.<\/p>\n
In June, around 46 lakh ration card holders, covering approximately 1.86 crore people across the state, collected rations under the scheme.<\/p>\n
Each ration card covers a family of four members, entitling them to 1 kg of sugar, 2 litres of mustard oil, and 5 kg of wheat per member. While sugar and wheat are provided free of cost at Rs 12.50 per kg, the increase in oil prices is set to impact BPL families who depend on ration depots for essential supplies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
