Yemen: The execution of Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, who was sentenced to death in Yemen, has been deferred for now. She was scheduled to be executed on July 16, according to sources quoted by news agency ANI on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Reports said the intervention of activist groups and influential religious leaders led to the postponement of her execution. Earlier, several diplomatic efforts were made to save Nimisha from the death penalty, but the victim’s family has not yet agreed to grant clemency or accept blood money.<\/p>\n
According to reports, Kanthapuram\u2019s Grand Mufti AP Abubakar Musliyar and Yemeni Sufi scholar Sheikh Habib Omar bin Hafiz have been holding discussions on the issue, along with a judge of Yemen\u2019s Supreme Court and the brother of the deceased.<\/p>\n
Mufti Musliyar convinced Sheikh Habib to initiate talks, marking the first time a close family member of the victim has agreed to engage in discussions.<\/p>\n
