Uttarakhand: An 18-year-old Sikh pilgrim from Punjab died after falling into a deep gorge near Hemkund Sahib Gurdwara in Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district, police said on Monday.<\/p>\n
The youth, identified as Gurpreet Singh of Kale village in Amritsar district, had travelled to Hemkund Sahib with a group of 90 pilgrims.<\/p>\n
Police said Gurpreet left the main road leading to the gurdwara and took an old, damaged route that had been closed due to security concerns. His foot reportedly slipped, causing him to fall into a 100-metre-deep gorge.<\/p>\n
