New Delhi: Khalistan supporter and Independent MP from Punjab\u2019s Khadoor Sahib, Amritpal Singh, has been accused by his associates of consuming drugs, according to sources. This has reportedly been mentioned in the challan presented by the police in the Ajnala court.<\/p>\n
Amritpal\u2019s associates, Varinder Singh Fauji and Bhagwant Singh, have given statements to the police in this regard, sources said. Amritpal is currently lodged in Assam\u2019s Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Amritpal\u2019s lawyer and legal advisor, Iman Singh Khara, alleged that these claims are an attempt to defame Amritpal ahead of the by-election in the Tarn Taran assembly seat, where Amritpal\u2019s party, Akali Dal Waris Punjab Dey, is contesting.<\/p>\n
Khara said that the statements reportedly given by Amritpal\u2019s associates have no legal value, claiming they fall under Section 27 and do not require a challenge.<\/p>\n
