If the work of AAP\u2019s Jalandhar Central Halka in-charge Nitin Kohli is reviewed, it becomes evident that in a short span of time, he has made every effort to meet the expectations of the public\u2014particularly in Jalandhar\u2019s Central constituency. Kohli appears to be succeeding in this effort, as he has been tirelessly working day and night for public service since taking charge. Not just in the Central constituency, but multiple development projects across Jalandhar are credited to Nitin Kohli.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Key Developmental Works by Nitin Kohli:<\/strong><\/p>\n

1) Public Office Made Accessible<\/strong><\/p>\n

Nitin Kohli began by prioritizing public demand and inaugurated a local office, ensuring it was easily accessible to all. Special care was taken to make sure no individual faced any difficulty in reaching the office. A helpline number 0181-5018181 and WhatsApp number +91 8968621277 were also made operational from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM to register complaints.<\/strong><\/p>\n

2) Initiation of Sports Hub<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kohli played a key role in laying the foundation of an international-level Burlton Park Sports Hub, with a promise to complete it within one year. Upon completion, the hub is expected to host hockey tournaments involving 5 to 6 countries.<\/strong><\/p>\n

3) Funds Sanctioned for Development Projects<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kohli informed that issues like sanitation, sewerage, and basic infrastructure which had been neglected for years have now begun to see real progress. In an F&CC meeting of the Municipal Corporation, \u20b97.13 crore was sanctioned for 39 development projects in the Central constituency. The constituency is now on the path to becoming a model for other areas in Jalandhar.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Some of the key sanctioned projects include:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u20b938.05 lakh for maintenance of a community hall in Islam Ganj<\/strong>
\n\u20b923.60 lakh for CC street construction in Surjit Nagar<\/strong>
\n\u20b921.04 lakh for street work in Ward-5<\/strong>
\n\u20b920.55 lakh for street construction in Gulmarg Avenue (Ward-6)<\/strong>
\n\u20b929.10 lakh for various street works in Ward-8<\/strong><\/p>\n

4) Support for Traders During GST Raids<\/strong><\/p>\n

Recently, during GST raids, traders were distressed to the point of shutting down shops. Kohli acted swiftly by holding meetings between GST officials and traders, following which the raids were immediately halted. He assured a quick resolution of the issue, earning the trust of the trading community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

5) Major Relief from Enhancement and Non-Construction Fees<\/strong><\/p>\n

Among Kohli\u2019s significant achievements was securing major relief for the public from enhancement and non-construction fees in collaboration with Improvement Trust Chairperson Rajwinder Kaur Thiara. Due to Kohli’s efforts, allottees in Surya Enclave, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Avenue, and Guru Gobind Singh Avenue received relief. Under development schemes of Improvement Trust\u2014170 acres and 70.5 acres\u2014enhancement charges and interest will now be taken from 2021 onwards. In the 94.5-acre scheme, a 7.5% interest rate has been fixed from 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n

6) Shifting of Waste Dumps<\/strong><\/p>\n

The TV Centre dump (main road), which had been a long-standing nuisance, is now being removed and a permanent sanitation structure is being developed. Similarly, the dump near Football Chowk has also been cleared. Dump removal has also started in the Adarsh Nagar Market area, providing relief from filth and foul smell.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Upcoming Works<\/strong><\/p>\n

Serious sewer overflow issues in areas such as Basti Guzan, Karam Bagh, Kishanpura, Guru Nanak Pura, and Dilbagh Nagar Road will be addressed using hi-tech machines imported from Delhi, which are expected to arrive in Jalandhar soon. Additionally, works related to road repair, toilet construction, and drain cleaning will begin soon in Nandanpura, Renk Bazaar, and Bhagat Singh Chowk.
