New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday levelled serious allegations against the Election Commission, accusing it of being involved in “vote theft” to benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He claimed that the Congress party had \u201c100 per cent\u201d concrete evidence \u2014 described as an \u201catom bomb\u201d \u2014 which would expose the alleged manipulation.<\/p>\n
\u201cI had said earlier that vote theft is happening. Now we have solid evidence that the Election Commission is involved in this,\u201d Gandhi told reporters at the Parliament complex. \u201cI am not saying this in jest. This is with full proof. The day this evidence is made public, the Commission will have no place to hide,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
The Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha alleged that the irregularities were first suspected during the Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections and later intensified in the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra elections.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe believe that vote theft has occurred at the state level in Maharashtra. Voter lists were tampered with and crores of names were added. When the Election Commission did not act, we conducted our own six-month investigation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Terming the findings of the investigation as an \u201catom bomb\u201d, Gandhi warned that all officials involved \u2014 from top to bottom \u2014 would be held accountable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is treason, nothing less. Whether you retire or are posted elsewhere, we will find you. You are working against India,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
